Chembur law college student moves court to get stay on first semester exams

Chembur law college student moves court to get stay on first semester exams
MUMBAI: A law student has moved court seeking a stay on the first semester LLM exams scheduled to start on January 23. Imran Khan, a student of a Chembur law college has filed the petition in public interest.
Some of the Mumbai University LLM students, who were admitted on January 12, have managed to get only 13 days to prepare for their exam, said Khan. “The exam schedule defies UGC as well as Bar Council’s regulation of having a minimum of 90 teaching days in each term.
The delay in the announcement of last year’s results and the subsequent late admissions was not students’ fault and the university cannot compensate for their fault in this manner,” said Khan.
The petition is likely to come up for hearing on Monday. Khan, who is pursuing LLB, has also sought a postponement of the first semester LLB exam starting on January 29. A similar petition for the LLB exam is pending in the court.
LLM exams were earlier scheduled to commence on January 17. After students’ protests, the university postponed the exams by just five days.
