Brady named chairman of Young Conaway

Young Conaway Stargatt & Taylor, Wilmington,   announced that effective January 1 Vice Chairman Robert S. Brady assumed the role of Chairman. 

[Not a valid template] Brady succeeds James L. Patton, Jr. who will now serve as Chairman Emeritus. Michael R. Nestor will assume the role of Vice Chairman. Brady, Nestor and Patton will continue to maintain their restructuring practices.

Brady previously led the firm’s Bankruptcy group and has served on the Firm’s Management Committee since 2001.

Nestor, who serves as a member of the Firm’s Management Committee, co-chair of the Firm’s Portfolio Company Specialty Group, and head of the Firm’s New York office, has focused his practice of more than 20 years on representing companies in distress.

As Chairman Emeritus, Patton will support the firm’s strategic growth in New York and other locations throughout the country.  He will also continue to advise businesses seeking restructuring advice and provide counsel to individuals serving as future claimants’ representatives, independent board committee members, and monitors of civil litigation.

Potter Anderson elects partners

Potter Anderson & Corroon LLP, Wilmington,  announced that, effective January 1  Tyler J. Leavengood and Michael P. Maxwell have been elected partners of the firm, and R. Stephen McNeill and Alan R. Silverstein have been promoted to counsel..” 

Leavengood, partner in the firm’s Corporate Litigation Group, focuses his practice primarily on corporate and commercial litigation in the Delaware Court of Chancery, including litigating stockholder class and derivative actions, as well as actions for appraisal, indemnification, and inspection of books and records. He also has experience in counseling boards of directors and special board committees of Delaware corporations with respect to issues of fiduciary duty and internal corporate governance. Leavengood earned his J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law and his B.S. from Texas A&M University.

 Maxwell, partner in the firm’s Business Group, advises clients on matters of Delaware corporate and business law He earned his J.D. from Tulane Law School and his B.A. from the University of Louisville.

 McNeill, counsel in the firm’s Bankruptcy and Restructuring Group, focuses his practice on complex bankruptcy proceedings. He earned his J.D. from Washington and Lee University School of Law and his B.S. from Auburn University at Montgomery. 

 Silverstein, counsel in the firm’s IP Litigation Group, concentrates his practice on patent litigation, trademark litigation and intellectual property counseling. He earned his J.D. from Temple University Beasley School of Law and his B.S. from Ursinus College.

Connolly Gallagher names partner

Connolly Gallagher LLP, Wilmington,  announced that Aaron M. Shapiro was elected partner effective January 1.

Shapiro is a member of the firm’s Labor & Employment group. His practice focuses on labor relations, collective bargaining, administrative law matters, and government relations.  Aaron is a 1995 cum laude graduate of Widener University School of Law.  He is admitted to practice in both Delaware and Pennsylvania.

Ying named partner at Morris, Nichols

Morris, Nichols, Arsht & Tunnell, Wilmington,  announced that intellectual property litigator Jennifer Ying has been elected to the partnership, effective January 1.

Jennifer focuses her practice on patent, trademark, and trade secret disputes in federal and state court.   Jennifer joined Morris Nichols in 2011.  

Ying  is a 2010 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School. She also holds degrees in electrical engineering & computer science and management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Gambog  named partner at Kimmel Carter 

Kimmel Carter, Christiana, announced that Sean P. Gambogi was promoted to Partner. He has been with the firm for 17 years when he worked in the file room as a file clerk and runner.

He graduated from the University of Delaware. He attended The Dickinson School of Law at Pennsylvania State University and served as a summer law clerk with the firm during this time. Upon admission to the Delaware Bar, he was hired as an Associate with the firm.

Marshall Dennehey  names shareholder

Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin announced that Sarah B. Cole has been promoted to shareholder in the firm’s Wilmington office. Previously, she was an associate of the firm.

A graduate of Bryn Mawr College and the University of Maryland School of Law, Cole is a member of the Delaware State Bar Association and is admitted to practice in Delaware.

Norman joins Schwartz & Schwartz

Attorney Stephen Price Norman has joined Schwartz & Schwartz, Attorneys at Law, Dover.

Norman has practiced law for more than 20 years. He has his own law firm, the Norman Law Firm, with offices in Dagsboro and Bethany Beach. He is not closing up shop, but is joining forces with Schwartz & Schwartz in addition to practicing in his own firm in an “of counsel” or “special trial counsel” position.

Owen elected partner at Morris James.

Morris James LLP, Wilmington   announced that Michael G. Owen has been elected partner effective January 1. 

Owen graduated from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School. Mike received his B.A. from Pennsylvania State University.

Morris, Nichols, Arsht & Tunnell, Wilmington, announced nine attorneys associated with the firm were admitted to the Delaware bar on Wednesday, December 12, 2018.

Elliott Covert earned his J.D. (2018) from the University of Michigan Law School; and B.A. (2012) in international relations and history from the Ursinus College.

Matthew R. Darby earned his J.D. (2018) cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center; and B.A. (2015) from the University of Delaware.

Nicholas J. Gallion earned his J.D. (2018) cum laude from the Pennsylvania State University, Dickinson School of Law; and B.S. (2012) in psychology and B.A. (2012) in philosophy, both with honors, from the University of Texas.

Taylor M. Haga earned her J.D. (2018) with honors from the George Washington University Law School; and B.S. (2013) magna cum laude in Kinesiology from Arizona State University.

Kelly Miranda earned her J.D. (2018) from Penn State Law; and B.A. (2015) in English and criminology from the Pennsylvania State University.
