Dea Marie Lindsey will be the newest district judge for the 20th Judicial District in Boulder County, effective April 1.
Lindsey was appointed by Gov. Jared Polis on Wednesday, according to a news release from the governor’s office. Lindsey will replace Boulder District Judge Andrew R. Macdonald, whose retirement was announced in February. Macdonald was first appointed to the role in 2011.
Lindsey is a senior assistant county attorney in Boulder, a position she has held since 2011, the release said.
The release said Lindsey earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Colorado in 1991 and her J.D. degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 1999.
Lindsey will bring a variety of legal experience to the bench outside her Boulder County work, including her time as assistant county attorney in Weld County from 2004 to 2005; partner at Coleman, Liu, Lyons, Wheeler and Zweibel LLC from 2001 to 2004 and public defender in the Weld County Greeley office from 1999 to 2001, according to the release.
