Role model: My mom and dad. “There are so many reasons why. First off, I really admire their work ethic. They've always worked incredibly hard to provide for our family, and they've shown me the importance of dedication and perseverance in whatever you do. Seeing their commitment to their jobs and to us has taught me a lot about responsibility. Beyond that, I really look up to their values. They've instilled in me a strong sense of right and wrong, and they've always emphasized the importance of things like honesty, kindness and treating others with respect. These are the principles I try to live by every day. I also appreciate their support and encouragement. They've always been my biggest cheerleaders, celebrating my successes and helping me through tough times. Knowing I have their unwavering belief in me gives me the confidence to pursue my goals and to not be afraid of failure. They've also shown me how to have strong relationships, both with each other and with others. Right now we are working on 3D printing derby cars. Me and my group designed a Ford GT40 from Ford vs. Ferarri. It's a fun class.”

Role model: “When I was younger, my role model was my brother. My brother introduced me to track, and he found great success in the sport. I wanted to see the same success that he had and follow in his footsteps. However, when someone asks me who my role model is today, I respond myself in 10 years. While scrolling through Instagram one day, I got this idea and saw Matthew McConaughey's Oscars speech. He said his hero was himself in 10 years. He said this because he always has someone to chase after. He knows he will never be himself in 10 years as that is impossible, but he will always have someone to chase after and strive to be. Since seeing it that day I have adopted his saying. My hero is myself in 10 years as I will always have someone to chase.”
