The President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, officially inaugurated the new regional headquarters of the World Bank Group for West and Central Africa today in Dakar.

In his address, the Head of State welcomed the convergence between the new dynamic driven by the World Bank Group and Vision Senegal 2050, a national strategic framework aimed at building a sovereign, just, and prosperous Senegal. “This building symbolizes the desire to better coordinate action on the ground, with greater impact for the direct benefit of the population,” declared the President of the Republic.

Bassirou Diomaye Faye highlighted shared priorities, including agriculture, youth employment, universal access to energy, vocational training, digitalization, and the active promotion of the private sector. He also highlighted the major reforms undertaken by the Senegalese government to create an environment conducive to investment and sustainable job creation.

This building, which brings together all of the Group’s regional components, embodies the desire to strengthen the institution’s efficiency and proximity to the realities on the ground, by placing people at the heart of development policies.
