Wiregrass teams compete for AHSAA baseball, softball state titles (SCHEDULE AND RESULTS)

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - For eight separate area programs, the road to a Blue Map has reached its final destination.

Two local baseball teams and six softball squads are making the trip up to northeast Alabama beginning Monday to battle it out for a chance to bring home the AHSAA State Championship in their respective classifications.

On the baseball diamond, Enterprise out of Class 7A and Pike Lib out of Class 2A will each be seeking their first state titles in school history as they each face a best-of-three series in Oxford at Choccolocco Park and at Jacksonville State University’s Ruby Abbott Field at Jim Case Stadium.

Over on the softball side, all six squads will have to get through multiple teams in a double-elimination tournament if they want to come home with the coveted state trophy.

Wicksburg (3A) will be looking to become a back-to-back state champion; Houston Academy (5A) seeks their first softball title since 2022, their second fast pitch title, and their fourth softball state title overall; Kinston (1A) looks to return the Blue Map to their school for the first time since 2007; and Rehobeth (6A), Zion Chapel (2A), and Pike Liberal Arts (2A) will each be looking for their first state titles in program history as they get through the tough competition in Oxford at Choccolocco Park.
