Davis named SBA regional administrator

PROVIDENCE – Wendell G. Davis has been named Region 1 regional administrator by the U.S. Small Business Administration, according to an announcement by the SBA’s Rhode Island branch on Feb. 21.

Davis, who started on Jan. 8, oversees delivery of financial assistance, technical assistance and government tracking to small businesses in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and Rhode Island.

Davis takes over for Mark S. Hayward who, from April 2017 to Jan. 8, 2018, was simultaneously serving as the Rhode Island district director and acting regional administrator for Region 1.

As of Jan. 8, Hayward will have one role: Rhode Island district director.

A Central Connecticut State University and University of Notre Dame Law School graduate, Davis has 15 years experience as a small business owner.
